Welcome

What is Jiu Jitsu?
Jiu Jitsu is a Brazilian Martial Art that involves grappling - using your body to trap the other person's body, like a game of chess, and submitting them with a joint lock or choke. It is an incredible metaphor for life, helping individuals improve themselves in every aspect, giving them an outlet for what’s a very primal thing for us all - a fight. Life is a struggle, and through Jiu Jitsu, many people conquer their inner struggles and gain confidence in themselves.

Who is Ana?
Ana is a 3-time IBJJF World Champion, Pan American Champion, Brazilian National Champion, and 1st degree Blackbelt under Murilo Santana. Ana left Maine to pursue her Jiu Jitsu career abroad, living in São Paulo, Brazil for 5 years of relentless training and competition with some of the best names in the sport. She founded Unity Jiu Jitsu in New York City, created innovative programs for beginners and women, and ran one of the best kids Jiu Jitsu programs of its time. Now back home in Maine, with a farm and several businesses, she is again ready to share her knowledge and teach Jiu Jitsu to anyone wanting to learn.

October 21 - Introduction to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
6pm-8pm
106 Mount Ephraim Rd, Searsport, ME
This event is $20, and will teach you everything you need to know to begin your Jiu Jitsu training. It's open to everyone 10 years and up, who has trained Jiu Jitsu for 0-6 months.
Get started right, now, so that you don't have to unlearn bad habits later.
Ana developed this Introduction lesson so that Unity Jiu Jitsu didn't need to offer a beginners program - students learn everything they need to join all-levels classes, and start making their Jiu Jitsu their own, from day one.
October 24 - Women-Only Introduction to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
10:30am-12:30pm
106 Mount Ephraim Rd, Searsport, ME
This event is $20, and will lead women through everything they need to know in order to start having fun with Jiu Jitsu.
Good Jiu Jitsu could be defined as simply "efficient", and that's something that comes to women naturally. The approach that women generally take when starting Jiu Jitsu is very different from men, so this introduction should be comfortable and fun.
Ideally, as women we want to build up to where we are comfortable training with men, because for self-defense, that's what you want your body to be used to. Also, training Jiu Jitsu with men who train properly is a lot of fun!
We all go our own pace, and further women-only training will remain an option regardless.
